The Bible was not written in a vacuum. It was written within the context of the world around it, using language, imagery, events, people, and places the original audiences were familiar with. The Bible was written to them, but it is for us. We are the foreigners looking in. While the Scriptures are timeless, they expect responsible reading. That doesn’t mean you need a doctorate degree for salvation. How do we better understand the context of the Bible?
